Kazhakuttam (Kazhakkoottam) is situated 15 km north of Thiruvananthapuram city on NH 47, in between Kariavattom and Kaniyapuram. The major landmarks include the Aswathy Housing Pvt Ltd, Technopark ( IT hub of Kerala ), Kazhakuttam Railway Station, Sainik School, KINFRA Film and Video Park and Women’s I.T.I.

The Kazhakuttam Sri Mahadeva Temple, which was renovated during the period of Marthanda Varma, is more than 1175 years old. The Madavoorppara cave temple which dates back to the Ramayana days is also nearby.

Kazhakuttam is also a place renowned for many illustrious exponents of kalari, the ancient martial art of Kerala.
