Chandanakudam Mahotsavam

Chandanakudam Mahotsavam at Beemapalli is a 10 day festival which begins on the 1st of the Hijra month of Jamadul Akhar (March -April) and comes to an end on the 10th day. The festival is in commemoration of the death anniversary of Beema Beevi, a pious muslim lady who was blessed with extraordinary powers. On all days during the festival, pilgrims throng to the shrine to pay homage to Beema Beevi. The devotees bring earthen pots (kudams) filled with coins as offerings. These pots are coated with sandal wood paste (chandanam) and hence the name of the festival is known as Chandanakudam festival.
