Arattu at Janardhana Swamy Temple

The Arattu festival at the Janardhana Swamy temple is celebrated every year in Meenam (March-April). The festival commences with Kodiyettu (flag hoisting) on Karthika day and ending with Arattu on Uthram day. The festival lasts for ten days. Thousands of devotees gather everyday to attend this festival. A colourful procession, led by caparisoned elephants in which ornamental silk umbrellas and peacock fans are carried, is one of the prominent features of this festival.
